Income Marketplace Review

Description

Income Marketplace was launched in 2020. Since then, it has not only attracted almost 4000 investors. Also, the marketplace grew its offer of consumer loans from nine loan originators in Europe, Asia and Latin America. Interest rates have been raised to an attractive maximum of 15% yield per year. A unique feature of Income Marketplace compared to other P2P platforms is the way the involve loan originators in the investment process: through lending companies taking higher risks in form of "junior shares". What does that mean? When a loan defaults, Income invetors hold the senior share, compared to the loan originators that hold the junior shares. In case of default, senior shares are paid back first before junior shares. This distribution of risk provides more security to the invetors. Other platforms usually only require loan originators to have skin in the game. Other security features are the buyback obligation for loan originators, in case a loan is later than 60 days. Finally, Income takes a part of the loan portfolio of a loan originator as a collateral as "Cashflow Buffer".
